Club Registration

Players must create a GMS account and complete their registration. The club registrar will then accept the registration and the player will be eligible to play for our club. Video guidance on registering for a club

If a player is registered with a different club, the club registrar should request a transfer of the player to the new club. The club registrar from the old club must approve the transfer. Video guidance on transferring players

Being ‘Club Registered’ allows individuals to play at Men’s Level 9 and below and Women’s Level 5 and below.

Players in Men’s Level 1 to 8 and Women’s Level 1 to 4 will need their registration to be uplifted to ‘RFU Registration’.

It's time to update your Registration and check your accounts are up to date before and during the season.

Membership is open, where you can purchase the correct membership from your phone or laptop all in the one place.  Once membership is purchased your login page will show that you are an active member.

Please make sure your medical and next of kin details are filled out correctly along with an up-to-date passport photo.

Quite a few members have mentioned that they have never had membership cards.  When a member/player registers and pays their membership their GMS+ account will show that they are Active.  This is your Membership Card (MC).

Where Rugby Begins

When a parent registers and pays for their child, both will have their Membership Card (MC) on the parent/guardian account.

Why Your Support Matters

Running BSRFC requires continual investment to keep our facilities safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all our players, families, and visitors.  Behind every training session, match day, and community event is a significant amount of ongoing upkeep that ensures the club can operate to the standard our members expect.

Annual running costs include but are not exclusive to:

  • Pitch and Ground Maintenance - Regular mowing, line marking, drainage repairs and ongoing improvement works to make sure  our playing surfaces are safe  and well kept all year round.
  • Clubhouse Operations - Staffing, Kitchen and hospitality areas  so we can provide a friendly atmosphere for members and guests.
  • Equipment and Kit - Replacing balls, cones, pads, first aid supplies, training gear and essential safety equipment across all age groups.
  • Utilities and Essential Services - Electricity, water, heating, waste management, and the day to day operational costs that keep the clubhouse running.
  • Compliance and Safeguarding - Ensuring we meet the safety standards, maintain insurance, and provide a secure and supportive environment for every player, especially our Minis and Youth members.
  • Long Term Improvements - Investing in facilities, infrastructure, and upgrades that help the club continue to grow and thrive.
  • Festivals - A substantial portion of Mini/Youth membership fees is allocated to essential participation costs, including festival entry fees.
  • Players Meals - There is also  the provision of post match meals, ensuring our young players can fully enjoy and benefit from the rugby experience.

How Membership Helps

Every membership fee, raffle ticket, sponsorship, or bar purchase directly contributes to these essential costs.  Your support allows us to keep offering high quality coaching, safe facilities, and a vibrant community space for famillies across Bishop's Stortford. Parents and paid members are also offered, with their (MC) a discount on selected bar items.

Benefits of Being a Mini Member of Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Football Club

A fun, welcoming start to rugby

Children are introduced to the sport through enjoyable, age‑appropriate activities designed to develop their confidence, coordination, and love of the game.

A safe and supportive environment

The club emphasises respectful behaviour, safeguarding, and positive conduct both on and off the pitch, as reflected in documents such as the BSRFC Discipline Policy.  This ensures that Minis play, learn, and socialise in a secure, well‑managed setting.

Insurance

Players are insured if they are fully paid up members, both with the RFU and through RugbySafe outlines in Parents info Pack.

Coaching that builds core skills

Minis benefit from coaches who focus on fundamental movement, teamwork, and the basic principles of rugby, delivered in a fun and encouraging way.

Positive values and club culture

BSRFC places strong emphasis on respect, teamwork, enjoyment, and sportsmanship; values supported by the BSRFC Social Media Policy. Minis learn not just the sport, but also how to be considerate teammates and good members of the community.

Belonging to a thriving community club

Families become part of a long‑established, community‑centred club. Many parents and children build lasting friendships as they progress through the Minis and Youth age groups.

Healthy outdoor activity

Regular sessions provide children with the chance to run, play, and stay active in a structured and enjoyable way — great for physical health and wellbeing.

A pathway into the club’s youth rugby

Mini Membership offers a natural stepping stone into older age‑group rugby, giving children continuity, development, and a sense of long‑term belonging.

ISSUES

Issue 1: Android phones

A known issue on Android phones is the Update doesn’t appear after you enter the Top-Up amount.  This has been tested on.

  • Android 16
  • S Series

Action: Passed to Manufacturer

Issue 2: Blocked Accounts

As an admin we will receive 'Locked Account" alerts due to the change of logging into GMS, the formatted name which was used with credentials in the past has been replaced by your email.  These are the alerts that we are receiving and not that the account is 'Blocked', rather the way you access the account.  We think the RFU are taking a soft approach for now, just be aware.
