ALL DOWNHILL FOR Bs???

The B-team took full advantage of the considerable slope of Cheshunt's pitch in the first half of this morning's friendly fixture against the Division 4 leaders. Zico (two tries), Carter and Luca made the most of momentum running down the hill to score four tries, with Carter adding two conversions to make it 0-24 at half time. Alec hobbled off early in the game with a leg injury but replacement flanker, George, slotted seamlessly into the role and alongside Caleb worked tirelessly for the remainder of the game, both lads immense in defence today.

Cheshunt (the slope now in their favour) looked like they may get themselves back into the game when they ran in their first converted try just a few minutes into the second half but the Stortford boys continued to play positive attacking rugby and Zico completed his hat-trick just few minutes later, following some strong ball carries and rucking as we made our way back up the hill. Cheshunt continued to pressure our defence and spent five minutes camped out in our '22' before Zico once more set off on one of his powerful runs, this time uphill and with three-quarters of the pitch ahead of him...some might say it was ambitious, others would consider it foolish but he put his head down and powered up the hill leaving both Cheshunt's players and his own teammates struggling to keep up. With four tries under his belt and having rucked and tackled well for 45 minutes, Zico gratefully welcomed the call for him to be replaced by Alec and he left the pitch to the applause of both squads. A well-deserved late converted try from Cheshunt made the final score 14 - 36.

The post-match meal was enjoyed by both teams who came together to celebrate the upcoming birthdays of Zico, Carter and Alessandro (Cheshunt).

Carter was awarded the player of the match by the Cheshunt players and Caleb was nominated by his own team-mates.
