So the U13A's are off and running with a hard fought win in their first league match v's Tring. The conditions were ideal for running rugby and with the boys experiencing a full pitch for only the second time after a slightly nervous start the home team began to gain in confidence and imposed themselves on very lively and fired up opposition. A consistent period camped on the Truing 22 brought the first try with Charlie Scott jinking through from short range to score almost under the posts. He duly converted the try which took us to half time.
In the second half Tring applied increasing pressure and for periods we were pinned back near our own line. Our defence was hugely improved, with a more organised man marking approach. Three times we held out certain tries.
A stunning one on one try saving tackle from full back Matt Barrett finally turned the side and soon after our prowling left win Charlie Doree go the chance he was waiting for. A move off the breakdown down the blind side and sharp passing from scrum half Jack Sisterson to Scott unleashed Doree who pounded over from the corner ending up under the posts. Scott then converted to extended the score to 14-0, which would end up being the final score.
Captain James Baz lead by example with hard running and excellent communication. There were other notable performances from centre Tyler Gleed, scrum half Jack Sisterson, fly half Charlie Scott and heroics up from from No.7 Pat Thomas.
Wasps next in 2 weeks.....bring it on!
