A Close Encounter

A fun holiday friendly encounter with our friends from Datchworth.

Both squads missing a few regulars, resting, injured or on holiday but with our Baa Baa's from A's and B's vs Datchworth's slightly strengthened A squad, an evenly matched gamed was expected. The touchline teams were not disappointed with 9 tries and a game that ebbed and flowed throughout. Datchworth had the edge overall across the larger forwards but our backs edged the open play tussles for large parts of the game.

With the scores tied at 24-24 our forwards worked hard to grind out some yards and we creeped into the oppo's half with some strong running from our backs. Eventually there rush defence cost them, as we were matched on RHS out wide but a cheeky chip-kick over the defence saw Joe Hall gather the bounce and glide over the whitewash, (with only 3 minutes left on the clock).

A hard fought game and we wish Datchworth all the best in the next part of the season.
