Short of 6 first choice players for the match - 3 of whom, Ben Cook, Charlie Kingham and Joss Linney, were involved in England trials playing for the London & South East Division U18s, BSRFC Colts gradually blew away the cobwebs of last month’s inactivity to provide a powerful display against very plucky opposition.
Having conceded a try in the opening five minutes the team, led from the front by England U18 Sam James, conjured up a good mix of tries between the backs out wide and the powerful pack from close quarters. For the coaches, the way the team finished the game was particularly pleasing, with a great display of pressure defence boding well for the next tough match in this challenging National competition.
Both Ed Goodman and James Apperley from the U17s had strong debuts for the club and are further proof that the club has a growing pool of young talent coming up through the youth section. After 15 months on the road in the National competitions, everyone is hoping for a home draw one day!
