New Year Victory

U15A started the year in style with an impressive victory over a useful and developing Datchworth side. Will S opened the scoring when he combined with namesake Will V who provided a perfectly timed pass to allow the winger to score in the corner. Stortford's backs were playing some excellent rugby, moving the ball quickly and creating space for their runners. Our next try came from Fabian who found himself in space out wide and was able to pick a gap back inside and sprint clear to score under the posts leaving himself and easy conversion. Datchworth hit back quickly and their fullback crossed to open their account. Stortford recovered their composure and began to press, Will V managed to recover a loose ball and the lumbering lock found a gap and drove over to score another under the posts, allowing Fabian to add the extras. Andrei completed the first half scoring with undoubtedly the play of the match, sprinting half of the pitch in support of a powerful break from Samuel and our tight head was rewarded when Samuel offloaded in a tackle and allowed him to score out wide. H/T 24-5.

The second half was a scrappier affair with Stortford failing to deliver the flowing rugby we were treated to in the first half, however we did manage to add another 3 tries. Fabian added two to his first half tally and completed his hattrick and Ben P recovered a loose cross field kick and crossed for his first A team try of the season. Datchworth's loosehead prop scored a consolation try, which was deserved reward for an impressive scrummaging performance that troubled the Stortford front row throughout the match.

Samuel was awarded the MoM from the Datchworth team, but special mention should go to Fabian who amassed 21 points and hooker Dylan who put in a solid performance on his A team debut.
