Stortford Tame Chelmsford Giants

Am I shrinking (probably) or are we now seeing u11’s players bigger than me? I know its not that much of an achievement!

Last Sunday 20th Feb we traveled to Chelmsford. We were faced with some pretty big opposition, I thought we had stepped into a scene from Harry Potter. We mixed the teams up and also some players tried different positions.

The first game started with players half asleep and not sure of positions. Chelmsford run in a quick try, this woke the players up. Out of the first 7 tackles I counted 5 tackles made by Piers. The game ended with a Stortford win, Chelmsford 15, BS 20.

Second game was also fiercely contested which could have gone either way. Every time Stortford went ahead Chelmsford came back. Final score Chelmsford 10, BS 10.

Third game was a different affair. Stortford heads dropped and the power of the Chelmsford pack was unstoppable.

Score Chelmsford 20, BS nil. A mountain to climb to help swing the day to Stortford favour for the final game.

The boys were fired up and nothing was going to stop them. Chelmsford had all the strength in the pack, but there pack was not fit enough to last the day. Our boys started running rings round the opposition slowly wearing them down. Half time score Chelmsford 15 Stortford 15. The second half showed fitness, spirit and maturity that we have been missing for first half of the season. A onslaught started that Chelmsford found it hard to contain. Final score Chelmsford 15, BS 30.

Player of the day was Piers, unfortunately he was substituted with a knock on the head, so we all hope he will be back playing soon.

Total for the day; Chelmsford 60, Bishop Stortford 60

If we had played this fixture 2 months ago I would have expected a heavy loss, The boys have come along way in all areas of the game, but mostly in the belief in themselves. Well done to all.
