What a fantastic day of mini rugby.
All U7s teams arrived on time ready for the days challenges - after the wet weather the previous week and some early showers on Sunday this showed this was a promising start!
In the pools our teams put in some superb performances.
The Mambas came 5th in their pool and Cobras came 4th. Both teams had some great matches though came up against tough competition. There some superb tries, lovely individual performances and great defence play. With a little more training on direct attacking and delivering a more organised defence we look forward to a bright future.
The Vipers having won 3 and lost 1 game were very unfortunate with three teams drawn in the pool. After count backs on tries they ended up 3rd in the pool. This was incredibly unlucky following their excellent results. But rules are rules and in the cut and thrust of competition we learn to channel our disappointment to allow us to improve next time. The team actually won more matches then the Taipans! Superb support work allowed this team to deliver with an organised defence.
The Taipans excelled to finish top of their pool. They came up against the organised OA Jaguars team in the semi-final. This was a game to much to the valiant Taipans allowed a few break away tries and then struggled to catch up to finish the day with a 3-8 loss.
Congratulations to all the players - I hope you managed to get some rest in the afternoon!!
Special congratulations to the Taipans on their performances through out the day and to make the semi-final.
Congratulations to OAs who managed to get two teams into the U7 final and shared the honours on the day.
All games ran to time with exceptional organisation by everyone involved. Many thanks once again to the many volunteers involved from U7s and all age groups.
