U7s battle through driving rain to deliver

Unlike the the mud bath, sorry pitch!, we played on, which deteriorated with every match, the players improved and became more involved with every match - this was after they'd realised they hadn't tuned up for a swimming lesson!

Unfortunately due to a number of teams dropping out the U7s wasn't run to the planned festival format. Instead we rotated the squad through 5 matches over 1h 45m hours.

We put up in some resilient performances with gritty defence. Trying to grab dripping wet tags with cold hands was proving difficult though attacking and support work were very good again. It was very wet and slippery under foot making changes in direction in attach effective if they could stay on their feet. The players seemed better at guessing where the touch lines were than many spectators! The highlight of the day being a number of tries following excellent support work and long passes and catches with very wet ball!

This was the pinnacle of mini rugby.

Thanks to Upminster for persisting with the festival and not allowing the weather to dampen sprints too far though I may suggest improving parking access for next time!!
