Stortford travelled to just outside Watford this weekend to play their 7th league fixture of the season in perfect conditions. Knowing that the Fullerians had yet to win a game in this league, the boys started with confidence but respectful that Fullerians can 'turn it on' in attack at times.
Stortford's confidence however was a force too great for the Fullerians. Two minutes into the game, Brunner scored a try under the posts (conv Stockley), closely followed by Greenhall (conv Stockley). Stortford became encamped around Fullerian's 22 line and launched wave after wave of runners. Tries by Marner, Stappleton, Morley and Stockley all before the break left the score at halftime 0-36. Just before the break however, Fullerians did find themselves with a breakaway towards the precious Stortford tryline. However a shove to a defender before making a tackle found the try disallowed.
Second half started just as the first had ended, Stortford were really putting the pressure on the home team, within ten minutes, Stapleton and Slade scored two great tries by the posts and with that, Stortford knew that the game was won. The minutes following saw the Stortford scrum-half Dummer out-step six tackles to score, closely followed by a try by the skipper Foster. Fullerians knew by this point of the match that the game was well and truly lost and two consecutive tries from Carter and McKenzie sealed the game with a clean sheet and another 77 points in the bank.
