Bishops Stortford 3s were looking forward to their first home game of the season and having won the last 3 games, they were feeling optimistic.
Inspired by the return of skipper Foster, the team were straight out of the blocks and dominated from the first whistle. The 3s put on a masterclass in scrummaging for the spectators and winning so much ball up front enabled a flurry of tries to take place. Within 15 minutes of kick-off, Stortford led 15-0 from tries by Read, Giles and Michel (conv Stockley). They blues went from strength to strength and by half-time Stortford were leading 34-0.
Second half and Stortford ensured that they kept their foot on the gas. All continued to go well up front and Stortford's technical ability started to really shine through. Stuart Haslam and James Hardy triggered many attempts on the Finchley try line and 20 minutes into the half, over went Millard, Warboys(3 tries), Hardy (2 tries) and Doolan. Into the 4th quarter Stortford came under pressure for what seemed the first time of the match. A relentless drive by Finchley enabled them to get a score on the board, but Stortford punished themselves for letting their defenses drop and responded quickly with another try by Michel.
A fine display of rugby from the forwards and the backs.
