Our first road trip of the season saw us off up the M11 this morning to Shelford.
Always a good club to play, albeit one of the bloody coldest!
Our opposition had been in touch and asked for two mixed sides to be sent up as this is how they play friendlies, so with our depth in talent across the squad, we were happy to oblige.
Great conditions this morning, albeit a little nippy saw Stortford cross the whitewash first with a try from Charlie Overs, and then soon after Ashton Ashraf going over too, both kicks successful.
Shelford then got a couple back, only securing the extras from one try so at half time it was game on.
Second half underway and our youth debutant Lewis Baines got his first for BSRFC Youth and the extras were good.
Shelford managed to pull one back but with the kick being no good and Lewis Baines going over again and an excellent conversion the Blue and White came out on top in an excellently fought game.
Final Score: Shelford 17 - BSRFC 'Whites' 28
Man of the Match: For his brace of tries on his youth debut: Lewis Baines
DOTD: Me, for not finding out!
