The lads started this week's home match on the front foot with Jules offering support on the left and once the ball was in his hands his strong and direct running took him over the line to open the scoring within a minute. Two tries from Eton Manor were then answered by Tom Neale with a well-deserved try having provided great support for his team mates from the start. The first half finished honours even (10-10), mostly thanks to some fantastic try saving tackles from full back Dillon Long - who was having the match of his life, as well as strong, aggressive tackling from Odin.
Changes were made at half time and Zico wasted no time at the restart, his first touch of the ball seeing him bursting through Eton Manor defensive lines to score behind the posts, the conversion duly dispatched by Will Smith. Stortford's confidence then grew and some fantastic team play on the left saw Will Smith break free and make a fantastic run, the Eton defence tracked him well but another supporting run from Odin saw him arriving at pace from deep to take the ball from Will and carry it over for probably the try of the match - Will made the most of the easier kick adding the two extra points. Odin, having scored such a great try attracted the attention of the A-team coaches who poached him to finish the rest of the game as a replacement in the A-squad match, but by now our boys were flying. Two further lung busting runs from Zico gave us two more tries, Tom stepping up to convert one of them and a great zig-zagging run from Ed Jenks saw him squeezing over in the righ hand corner to make the score 41 - 10. Eton Manor managed to get their only try of the half right at the end, refusing to let their heads drop to make the final score 41-15, a well deserved win in a tough and competitive game.
Zico's dominant runs caught the attention of the Eton Manor lads and he was nominated player of the match by the away team. Coaches special mention has to go to Dillon Long, he didn't put a foot wrong in the full back position, receiving the ball and running confidently in attack but also dominant in defense making a number of last gasp, try saving tackles.
