(report from Richard Sanders)
A strong squad made the most of the bright and breezy conditions at Silver Leys against Fullarians RFC. Stortford started strongly with Matt Furrer carrying deep into the opposition half and making a well timed pass for Nathan Allerton to go over beneath the posts, duly converted by Ben Pedlar. Our scrum dominance began to show and scrum half Ed Jenks quick ball allowed Zico to crash through Fullerian defence to give us a 12-0 lead.
Strong rucking from Jasper, Dylan and Luca maintained the pressure and Matt broke free to run in a try of his own with Ben converting again.
Fullerians responded with good possession and a break from deep was stopped excellently by Jacob - the first of two fantastic try saving tackles from the full back. A second try from Zico, followed by a well made Fullarian’s try made the half time score 24-5 to Stortford.
A break from Harley led to a second try for Nathan who completed his hattrick following unselfish play from Matt. Tries from Zico and player-of-the-match Jacob completed the scoring, with Ben’s reliable boot adding the conversions.
Many thanks from the team and coaches for the fantastic support from the sidelines, great to see so many smiles on everyone’s faces.
