National Colts Plate 5th
BS 17 Winchester 5.
Another strong defensive display helped BS triumph in a close game. The first-half ended 0-0 with strong tackling from both sides being the dominant feature, causing a number of handling errors from both sides when in possession. At half-time the BS players were told to cut down on the error count and use their power to dominate a skilful but less physical Winchester side. In the second half the BS pack, led by Jack Sharp, Harry Goodman and Didi were able to make ground and good work at the breakdown saw more fluency from the whole side. Sustained pressure resulted in 2 tries in quick succession, from George Durrant and Will Civil, the latter after full-back Harry Heywood had fielded a clearance kick and linked well with Henry Felgate. Winchester narrowed the gap to 10-5 with 15 minutes to go, but BS made the game safe with 5 minutes to go after strong work from the forwards when man-of-the-match Freddie Hatton scored, Dom Lilley converting.
We now welcome Leicester Forest in the QF on 13th March.
