Big, all-round performance sees Stortford keep a clean sheet.

We welcomed Royston to Silver Leys this morning for a friendly against our 'A' team.
The 'B' team were given the morning off as a rest day as our game against Chelmsford was mutually called off.

The game started brightly for Royston who played the first ten minutes in our half but were unable to capitalise on a couple of chances as our defence on the line was superb.
The first break in the deadlock came after the ten minute mark with Hugo Hunt breaking 2 tackles and going over directly under the sticks. Extras were good off the boot of Oz Wilson.

Six minutes later it was Oz Wilson himself dotting down after a fantastic multi-phase passage of play and retention by the forwards which saw the Royston defence drawn in and had us gain a two man overlap, which was only going to end one way.
Oz made it easy for himself and the extras were good.

Royston played on with real heart and had a couple of fine passages of play, but nothing really stuck for them.

On 26' Ashton Ashraf, the birthday boy who was playing out of his skin, went over after a fantastic break and touchline run.
Extras left out there.

Three minutes later saw the first of our two yellow cards as Oz was given five minutes for a late tackle...a little harshly if I'm honest.

A couple of minutes after the re-start saw Tain make a fantastic line break from 15 metres out and from there, he wasn't being stopped.

The game then was a little tit-for-tat, but our defence and urgency at the breakdown just didn't allow Royston to play which was an amazing thing to see.

That determination and dogged defence paid dividends on 44' and 55' with trys for Sam Bull and Tom Coates respectively.

We also suffered our second yellow on the 56' mark for Przemek, who "self admittedly" entered the ruck from the side, again, a bit harsh I thought.

At this point another try was scored, but I am sad to admit, I missed it....

In summary, it was a fantastic all round display by our lads who managed to keep the oppo at bay all game.

MOTM: Ashton Ashraf for a blistering shift on the wing, on his birthday!
DOTD: Couple of contenders with them both being shown yellow, Oz Wilson and Przemek Bonner, (albeit a little harsh)

Special mentions also go out to Ciaran Whatmore, Igor Bogdanowicz and Ethan Gray who made their respective presences felt, coming up from the 'B' team this morning.
