A great performance from the A side saw them beat Teddington
in a bruising battle this afternoon.
They ran out 22-10 winners in a tough match on a beautiful day
for rugby.
Two early tries from from Hugo Hunt and Henry Walker, one
converted by Oscar Wilson, saw Stortford race into a 12-0 early lead.
Teddington enjoyed large spells of pressure and possession and
pulled a try back midway through the second half.
Jude Tanfield then went over for a third try and half-time saw a 17-5
lead.
The second half saw Teddington dominate for long periods but incredible
defence from Stortford kept the home side at bay until they got an
unconverted try back.
Stortford pushed forward and Lewis Baines scored following well worked
line-out.
Teddington started getting frustrated ending in a “handbags” punch up
near the end but Stortford held firm.
As one parent said: “This was an incredible performance and the boys
were so strong mentally against a very good team.
“It was a well deserved win.”
So on a day in Bushey Park where we saw, stags, seagulls and shetland
ponies sensational Stortford returned back round the M25 with a stunning
victory.
Well played boys and the coaches.
DOTD The unnamed player who could have cost his side victory when the
ref overturned a penalty awarded to Stortford near the end after being subjected to
some backchat. Luckily on this occasion it didn't matter.
MOTM The whole team. There wasn't one player in whole squad
who didn't deserve it.
