BSRFC 'Blues' v Shelford Mixed 1

Our first road trip of the season saw us off up the M11 this morning to Shelford.
Always a good club to play, albeit one of the bloody coldest!

Our opposition had been in touch and asked for two mixed sides to be sent up as this is how they play friendlies, so with our depth in talent across the squad, we were happy to oblige.

The Blues side had some serious go forward, with our pack favouring route one rugby a lot of the time however, Shelford were very quick to the breakdown and this saw us turned over far too often for our liking.

Our lads did however have the upper hand when we got the ball out wide to our wingers with wheels, and first half tries for Dan Connor and Sammy Shaw with a conversion from Will Grindall saw us 12-0 to the good at the oranges.

We anticipated Shelford would come back after a break with a little more sting in the tail but we were first to go over after half time.

The lads in Burgundy did go over twice in the middle of the second half, and their kicker was on form to get 14 points on the board for them.

We got a late one back with another god kick off the tee.

Final Score. Shelford 14 - 24 BSRFC Blues

Man of the match was Cam Lines for some serious go forward and resilience during a very physical contest.
DOTD: Tough one, as the lads all played well: but it does have to go to Henry Walker for gobbing off to the ref and costing us a penalty.
