U15s 'A' : first hit out too much for Epping& Upper Clapton

Enge Gray13 Oct 2019 - 15:11

A great physical contest, but the blue and white had it nailed.

Firstly: apologies for the lack of clarity herein: I was trying to keep up, but failed miserably....

And so to the 'A' team first competitive game of the season.
We welcomed a new oppo in Epping & Upper Clapton to Silver Leys this morning.
We knew it might be tough as they had played 3, won 3, and by some large margins.
Our boys were up from it from the start however.
Epping kicked us off and after five minutes we saw us held up over their line.
5m scrum saw Cam Lines go over and the conversion was good from Tom Griffiths.
3 minutes later saw us cross over again with a lovely pick and go from Alfie Dromard and again Griffo added the 2 from a superb wide kick off the tee.
12 minutes in saw our third try, scored by our skipper Archie Tancock, extras not good from an especially difficult one.
Game then went a little tit-for-tat until on 20 minutes we were awarded a line out on their 10, not straight was the ref's call so scrum to the oppo.
We then turned the ball over which eventually saw Alex Pierson go over, although he seemed to not know it! Try awarded, extras no good.

Our opposition then got one back as we switched off and the conversion made good.

I'm afraid it gets a but hazy here as I lapsed in concentration....

On 32' Ashton Ashraf went over for a try.

And then on 61' we saw Toby Bennett cross the whitewash for our 6th try of the game.

Final Score: BSRFC "A" 36 v 19 Epping & UC

A very good game this morning.
We had to make the decision very late yesterday to cancel the 'B' game as the schools butcher's bill was quite high this week.
The team we put out this morning, coupled with the result, is testament to the great work being done by the lads, and the coaching team.
The depth of talent we have is phenomenal, and this morning proved that.

Excellent display lads, excellent.

Todays MOTM: Cam Lines, for some serious go forward and an impeccable No.8 performance.
Todays DOTD: Luca Van Eck, for questioning the referee's eyesight and duly getting 6 minutes in the bin.
