Sometimes in sport it all comes together and this was certainly the case as the U14A's travelled to Richmond to play London Welsh in our second league game of the season. After a disappointing loss to Ampthill in our first game characterised by an error strewn showing it was all turned around at The Welsh as we put together some powerful play and forwards linked with backs with provide a feast of tries from all areas of the pitch.
Being fair to the opposition they were somewhat weakened by injuries but we can only play what is put in front of us and almost from the off we were the only team in it. Straight running, excellent work at the breakdown providing fast ball to a re-jigged back line proved fruitful and we over ran the opposition.
We lost No10, Jack Sisterson halfway through the first half so Charlie Scott came back in from the wing to his familiar No.10 slot. Tremendous power from Sankey, Girling, Rawding and Ainsworth in the pack provided a solid platform to unleash Scott, Gleed and Doree to wreak havoc out wide.
In all we played a cohesive, fast unrelenting brand of rugby and this will no doubt give the boys a significant confidence boost for the rest of the season - tougher challenges await but if we maintain this level of performance it bodes well.
Well done to all who played. A proper team effort.
