Frustration for players and coaches alike as a lively League fixture went against BSRFC U14As. With two well balanced teams, a beautiful day and a fine pitch it was end to end stuff. Our visitors Ampthill brought some vociferous support which made fora lively encounter.
Both teams adopted a no nonsense direct approach to the game and tries were scored mostly from wide positions. Our forwards showed some significant improvement, particularly at the breakdown which was very pleasing and gave us a decent platform. However our usually potent back line was sadly misfiring and all too over new made little errors which costs us territory, possession and ultimately the win.
Tires were exchanged until mid way through the second half when a couple from Ampthill nudged them clear and we were never able to close the gap, despite finishing the stronger of the two teams.
We will now concentrate on getting the backs defensive line more organised and there will be some hard work ahead in the coming weeks with London Welsh on the horizon.
Final score 29-19.
