Herpenden B vs Bishops Stortford B

Bishop’s Stortford travelled to Harpenden for the top of the HML Division 6 table clash this cold Sunday morning.

Early forward exchanges signalled a close game but the Blues made the first break by creating space out wide for Alfie Newman to show his pace & scoring under the posts. Similar forward play again created possession out wide, this time Gianluca Guglielmucci going over to put Stortford up 10-0 after 10 minutes. The blues then went to sleep & by half time Harpenden had scored 3 tries, 2 converted, putting them ahead 19-10 at half time.

A stern half time team talk rallied Stortford & Alex Munro soon went over for a try in his first game with the B side. Not to be outdone, Harpenden quickly returned with another try to put them 24-15 up.

With less than ten minutes to go, Stortford increased the pressure with some fine forward drives, resulting in Joshua Probyn powering over, well supported by his pack. With Harpenden four points up Bishop’s Stortford once more put the pressure on with some great driving runs through the forwards. Harpenden had hands on the ball deep in their own half when the ref called last play. The Stortford pack made one last effort and turned the ball over. With superb quick ruck ball, Alex Munro darted to the blind side and with a perfectly timed pass released Tom Colby to burst past the Harpenden defence for a try.

Bishop’s Stortford U14 B’s are still undefeated and now top of the Saracens HML League 6.
