Ealing Vs Bishop’s Stortford Under 14’s A teams.

Today game was between two teams who were undefeated in their league fixtures prior to today. The boys kicked off, but initially found themselves under pressure. A number of penalties were awarded against Stortford. This led to Ealing taken a penalty kick which they were successful with. Score 3-0. There was an immediate response from Stortford. The kick off was followed up well, and resulted in a lineout on the Ealing five metre line. The ball was well won in the lineout, quick ball between James and Lilley. Which resulted in a short pass to Civil who ran in under the post. Conversion was successful score 3-7.

After the restart there was good continuity play after securing the ball. The ball was moved along the line by Etherington and Forbes. A good off load to Civil found him in space and he scored his second try. The try converted and the score was 3-14. There was a good play in turn from Ealing who having conceded two quick tries put Stortford under pressure. They were awarded a penalty on the Stortford twenty two having put together some good passage of play. From the penalty a good move saw Ealing score a converted try. Score 10-14.

Stortford were put under immediate pressure after the re start and Ealing charged down a clearing kick. They scored a try which was converted. Half time Score 17-14.

After the re start the game reached a stage of containment by both teams. When possession was won by Stortford in their own half. A good backs move which resulted in Linney side stepping his way through the defence for a try. The try was converted. 17-21.

The forwards were beginning to assert themselves and the pressure was building up on Ealing. Another good move saw Etherington charge his way over the line in the corner. A very good conversion from Lilley saw the boys now go 17-28 up.

Good play by Lilley who kicked Stortford into strong field position. The lineout was won and the moved to the backs allowing Civil to go over in the opposite corner. Another good kick by Lilley was the score progress to 17-35. This was quickly followed up by a further score by Civil who after a trademark run scored under the post. The final conversion saw the boys win a good encounter by 17-42.
