I would like to start this report by saying what a fantastic reception we got from Chelmsford and what a great morning’s rugby, played in the true spirit of the game. I’ve heard from the Chelmsford Coach and he has reciprocated our feelings.
If I’d have had enough, I would have like to have given every one of our players a Man of the Match Medal. We played some of the best rugby that I have watched us play. In all the games our defence held it’s line, making it very difficult for the Chelmsford players to score. Our tagging was spot on and we continued to repel attack after attack, like the brave Welsh Red Coats holding back the Zulus at Rourke’s drift!
There were one or two uncharacteristic mistakes in attack and the Chelmsford boys fought back strongly to give us some very tight games. All adding up to make a very enjoyable morning, with honours even. And then there was the mud!
