This week's visitors are Esher, a big club with the full range of Minis and Youth teams, like us putting out two teams in many youth age groups but, unlike us, apparently (from the player profiles on their website) consistently importing players from outside into their First team - several again having joined this summer. Unfortunately there are no recent match reports on their site - at least not ones accessible to outsiders - so it's hard to identify possible areas of strengths and weakness. Both wings scored try doubles last week and two of their three in the previous week also went to back three players, but a powerful scrum would also seem to be a strength.
Esher Firsts have played at Level 3 or above since 2000, with 2 seasons in the (then new) Championship from 2010 and appear to expect to be strong at our level. They will have been particularly disappointed, therefore with a disappointing start to this season, winning only 2 of their first 8 matches. They have, though taken full advantage of two consecutive home games as their last 2 fixtures to register excellent victories over top sides, Blackheath and Darlington Mowden Park, so will come to Silver Leys in more confident mood.
After Stortford's memorable win at Blackheath last week, though our team will not fear anyone and the visitors' improving form will give added motivation - if any is needed - during this week's training. COYB!
