Stortford started poorly, allowing Harrison Langworthy to be isolated after a solid take from the opening kick and conceding a penalty for not releasing. The penalty went to touch and, although the the initial driving maul was stopped, Moseley quickly took advantage of the front foot ball for one of their halfbacks to scoot in for a try under the posts, with less than 4 minutes gone. Stortford bounced back and won a penalty inside the home 22, which Connor LLoyd took quickly, only to be hauled down with a high tackle feet from the line. This brought a yellow card for the defender and the penalty went to touch - only, unfortunately for the lineout to be lost and the opportunity to go begging. The visitors struggled to find any rhythm and further lineout struggles and loose kicking gave the home side a stream of possession, which they used to get their own game into gear, with livewire fullback, Sam Pointon in particular taking full advantage. He twice danced into the spaces offered, leading to further tries - the first scored by himself from 30 metres out after 23 minutes and the second, 15 minutes later, created from ground made by him, but finished by the pack from a 5 metre scrum, after Ben Harrison Price had been sin-binned for collapsing a maul driven at Stortford's line from some 17 metres out. Dan Lewis missed the first conversion but added his second two-pointer of the game from the other. In the meantime, Stortford had two shots at goal from penalties, the first narrowly missed but the second, after 32 minutes allowing Lloyd to register 3 points, after Moseley's No 8, Ollie Steadman was penalised, but, inexplicably, not yellow-carded for a deliberate and blatant shoulder charge in his own 22. The home side finished the half with their bonus point try in the final minute, after breaking from their own 22, when a loose attacking cross kick was easily intercepted by Aquile Smith in acres of space and, although the winger was hauled down, quick hands from his fellow backs saw the ball touched down out wide on the opposite wing, leaving Lewis too much to do from the kicking tee.
Stortford's halftime talk had a marked impact on the second period, with a generally tighter game, far less kicking and a solid lineout providing the platform for a complete turnaround in overall performance. The first breakthrough came after 5 minutes, when Moseley's solid defence looked as if, once more it might hold out against some strong drives from the visitors, but Austin Pope took matters into his own hands, running initially cross field, but then stepping off his right foot to slice between two would-be tacklers to burst through for a try close to the posts, giving Lloyd an easy conversion. This proved to be something of a catalyst, with the visitors suddenly much more incisive and a second try was soon added by Jake Morris, finishing of some good play by the inside backs, with quick hands capitalising on a telling half break by James Ayrton. Lloyd added an excellent conversion to narrow the deficit to 7 points, but this was extended again to 14 only 3 minutes later, when a knock-on by Stortford, looking to spread the ball after a solid take of the restart kick, led to a penalty to Moseley for a high tackle on Steadman out wide. The big No. 8 was quick to capitalise, sweeping round from the front of the resultant 5 metre lineout to take a quality ball off the top to crash through Dan Cole's despairing tackle on the line. Fortunately for Stortford, the scorer's temperament then let him down, receiving a yellow card for planting his hand on the face of a prone defender after the touchdown had been made. Dan Lewis made the easy conversion, but this was more than offset, when Cole smashed over the resultant restart penalty to take the score to 31-20 with 15 minutes of the half gone. With momentum now back on their side, the visitors swept back onto the attack and were awarded a penalty try 6 minutes later, when Lloyd was hauled down by a high tackle as he ran at the line after a quickly-taken penalty. This resulted in a yellow card for one of Moseley's props, yet it was the home side that scored next, stretching their lead again to 7 points with Lewis adding 3 to his tally from a fairly soft breakdown penalty shortly before they were restored to 15 men. This situation, though was short-lived, as Stortford again piled on the pressure, building on a scything run from Francis Moore. The visitors were driving at the line, when Steadman was shown a red card for a second sin-bin offence, as he cynically reached over a ruck and picked up the ball. The forwards tapped the penalty, but the ball was soon knocked on, and Moseley managed to win their own scrum and clear downfield. Stortford, though bounced straight back, running into the opposition 22, where the home side, once more conceded a penalty under pressure. The kick this time went to touch and a good lineout drill and driving maul brought Stortford's bonus point try out wide. Facing a difficult conversion, Lloyd showed his mettle hitting the kick sweetly between the posts to level the scores. With little time remaining, the visitors threatened to snatch the win but, despite putting the depleted home scrum under pressure at a series of resets in its own 22, were unable to turn the ball over, so the scores remained tied, as a relieved Moseley kicked the ball into touch to end the game.
