Well new record tonight we had 20 touch players and with 4 new players to the group. OK there were a couple of colt ringers in the line up but we don't mind although their speed did show us up a little. Welcome back to Molly who ran a quick warm up/passing session. The feedback from him was that our standard has definitely improved.
Welcome to Hayden and George - who seemed to have being playing touch all their lives.
We played on a full size touch pitch, with 6 a side and rolling subs. so even though some were resting during part of the match everyone was completely out of breath and reported it was hard work. The smiles on the faces, the support from the subs to their teams and the laugh we have means that you don't notice getting fit.
Thanks again to the volunteer refs - without you taking 10 mins out to ref we really wouldn't have such good sessions.
Moves of the night goes to both Red and Blues teams who both managed to click together as a team and move the ball (and players) across the pitch into space and score easy tries in the corner. Reds from restart ran two touches up the centre then just passed the ball wide for an easy try in the corner. Blues moved the ball to the right, took a couple of touches to draw the defence in then as a team moved the ball to the left, with players looping round and while they had loads of space to the left Rich decided to step in through a gap in the center to finish the move.
I really can't recall a wally of the night but there were a few really dodgy passes and some players running ahead of the ball.
Rules Clarification:
Knock on = roll ball, re-start touch count
Forward pass = Penalty
Performing a restart over the mark = Penalty
Claiming a Touch when none was made = Penalty
Passing the ball once touched = Penalty
Royston visit us next week for a friendly - we will set up two full size pitches and rotate around. Please make the effort to get up to the club and early so we can set up.
