Great night of touch. We started with a passing warm up and channel defence drill, the principle of which we took into the games.
So it was a night of excellent defence, both sides really understanding that communicating and discipline in holding a line means that attack has to work really hard to open up gaps. That being said Blues on a couple of occasions tore the defence apart with quick restarts and great running lines.
Move of the night x2 goes to Blues who at one stage involved their whole team putting the ball through hands to score in the corner. Welcome back to Martin, who scored the try of the night, Blues were camped on the 5M line, pressing the defence hard and running out of touches, they recycling the ball quickly and Martin ran a fantastic line cutting the defence in two for a great score.
Reds defending hard all night and were very organised, in attack still tended to panic and throw the ball in hope rather than take the touch (the author was guilty of this more than most).
Really great work out and great fun night.
Special thank goes to Iain Lock who was unanimously voted in as Chairman to the Summer Touch Competition organising committee. We await in eager anticipation of his plans.
