Dave Macfie being presented the John Follows trophy from the previous recipient Peter Brady.
John Follows was a previous player and club stalwart, he crossed over to the dark side as a referee at the end of his playing career and was, for many years, always seen at the club on Sunday mornings plying his trade, refereeing the under 13's to colts. Always quick with a smile and ready to explain anything rugby to the new generation of players. He embodied everything rugby. A vice president of the club and an ardent supporter
John died in October 2018 at the early age of 53 of a cardiac arrest. His family dedicated the trophy to the club in his memory.
The trophy is awarded each year to the team, coach, player or referee who embodies the true ethics of Rugby using the TREDS principles.
Teamwork
Respect
Enjoyment

Sportsmanship.
Dave, over many years in Youth rugby has used the TREDS principles in his coaching and approach. Many teams and players have benefited from his coaching and he has passed the TREDS philosophy to them all. TREDS is not only used in rugby but also can cross over to be a life skill.
Dave's support and respect throughout the season for referees and officials shows that rugby's true philosophy has not diminished and he is a worthy recipient of this accolade.
