On June 26th we had 7 teams entered for our Schools Tag Festival with over 45 girls attending and having a great experience
We had 3 volunteer refs - Stu Wilkins, Tom Ward and Matt Slade who are all coaches and/or players from our men's section. Thank you, nothing happens without referees.
Hamish Ferguson our Community Coach did an amazing job to organise the matches and tournament. We also had Emma Hardy who plays for Saracens and is part of their staffing team as well, come along. She held a Q&A during break time for the girls.
The overall winning team was Thorley Hill Primary School who narrowly beat Northgate 1s by 1 try. They received a trophy and we awarded a sportsmanship award to a player from Little Hadham Primary School.
All girls received a “rugby based” goodie bag, to include a BSRFC girls rugby pen, keyring and an “RFU love rugby” hair scrunchie.
Nikky Wilkins our Mini Chair has also started the girls 'try it' training sessions, with 12 girls joining and having a rugby experience.
We still have 2 more sessions to follow, see our website and social media for details. Mini rugby for both boys and girls returns in September
