Whilst attending the National Rugby awards in 2016 Carly sat and watched as East London RFC won the Women's team of the year award and then immediately said ' We can do that at Stortford'

& she was right we could, but we needed a Champion -. someone to drive the project forward and in Carly we found our champion.

In 2016-17 season she founded our first adult Women's team. That season they restricted themselves to playing a few ' friendly' fixtures as they learnt the game.

This season they joined the RFU league structure in the Women's NC South East East league and honoured all their games winning 9 and losing just 3 to finish 3rd.

Along the way the squad has grown now to nearly 30 players and the improvement in the team over just a few short months has been remarkable.

They train every week come rain (snow) or shine & always play with a smile on their faces irrespective of the result. They are a very welcome addition to our 'oneclub' family.

but Carly along with other senior players were not content with all that. Late last year 8 of the Ladies including Carly successfully completed their Level 2 coaching qualifications with a view to restarting Girls rugby at Stortford.

In just a few short months they have managed to attract 25 young female players aged 11 to 17 with a goal of building towards full squads at U13 , U15 & U18 next season. A few weeks ago they took an U13 squad to play in a development festival in Peterborough.

Carly has been described as a 'Force of nature'. Her energy and enthusiasm is infectious and if she can achieve all this in 18 months we look forward to seeing what the next couple of years bring!
